Director, Marketing 


The Director, Marketing leads the marketing team with full oversight of the team and direction. The Director helps work towards Elevate's organizational goals by developing marketing strategies from proposal through program delivery and managing all marketing and communications aspects of new and existing programs including project planning, staffing, budgeting, branding, and client engagement activities.

The Director reports to the Chief Executive Officer and collaborates and co-creates with the Senior Leadership Team. This is a remote position with future expectation of limited travel to Elevate's Chicago headquarters.


  • Lead all marketing and communications efforts for Elevate's programs and services in furtherance of Elevate's mission, vision, and values.
  • Lead and manage a growing marketing team and provide training or guidance to others; support, encourage, and collaborate with the team to model the best of Elevate practices and culture including wellness and self-care.
  • Manage budgets with program teams to ensure marketing budgets align with overall program budgets; provide input and data to create the departmental budget.
  • Establish and report on effective marketing metrics for Elevate's programs.
  • Participate in Elevate's leadership team meetings, provide strategic support and insight, and take an active leadership role in the development of new business initiatives and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to understand the needs of Elevate's programs and guide a long-term communications strategy that reflects Elevate's inclusive and collaborative narrative.
  • Advise Elevate program staff on how to leverage the power of marketing and communications to advance Elevate's work and identify opportunities to do so.
  • Develop and implement integrated and aligned program marketing and communications with Program management.
  • Set creative direction for marketing pieces, generate new ideas for messaging, tactics, audiences, and partnerships, and create environment where others feel encouraged to share ideas.
  • Stay up to date on best practices and new developments in marketing and communications and educate team on relevant topics.
  • Adhere to timelines, budget, and quality standards.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant college degree preferred, relevant experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 15 years of leadership experience preferred
  • Management experience with a focus on team development preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of best practices and recent developments in digital marketing, branding, and communications
  • Highly organized and creative and able to make high-quality, fast-paced, and time-sensitive work fun to drive client satisfaction
  • Ability to manage and monitor data for digital marketing strategies and budgets
  • Ability to collaborate, inspire, and engage internal and external clients to drive operation efficiency and program growth
  • Confident and enthusiastic speaker in any setting, and with diverse audiences
  • Experience integrating learnings for an iterative process of improvement
  • Exemplifies Elevate’s core values and advances Elevate’s vision in all aspects of work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient in a CRM platform such as Salesforce
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Ability to work weekend and evenings as needed
  • Experience in the nonprofit landscape preferred
