Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Adult - Psychiatric

Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse to join our adult med clinic team! The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) provides provision of direct psychiatric treatment, including, assessment and prescribing within an outpatient psychiatric clinic working with patients with varing levels of mental illness, developing treatment plans and prescribing medication within the scope of their education and certification of the collaborative agreement with their collaborating physician as assigned.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides psychopharmacological services, including the transmittal of prescription orders per written protocols, consistent with level of licensure and qualifications. Consults and/or refers to the physician as indicated.
  • Monitors for symptom reduction as well as side effects of medication.
  • Utilizes physiological laboratory data as needed or as indicated per protocol.
  • Provides physical assessment, history-taking, and differential diagnosis as indicated.
  • Serves as a point of referral for further medical evaluation with appropriate providers as part of the physical assessment.
  • Coordinates individual psychopharmacological services with the youth psychiatry team.
  • Provides and/or coordinates individual patient crisis services when symptoms arise as well as management of chronic problems.
  • Provides prevention-oriented patient education and care as indicated.
  • Develops and maintains current working knowledge of psychopharmacology.
  • Maintains documentation of clinical services in accordance with Wyandot BHN policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains close working relationship with clinic physicians and nursing staff
  • Participates in annual review of medication protocol.
  • Updates physician/nurse practitioner collaborative agreements annually.
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Master of Science (MSN), Nursing required.
  • Possess license to practice as an APRN by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
  • Active DEA or ability to obtain.
  • 1 - 2 years in an APRN role within a behavioral health environment.
  • 1-year experience working in an EMR system, (Anasazi)
  • Experience in serving adults with mental illness.
  • Knowledge of mental health theory and practice.
  • Extensive familiarity with diagnostic and treatment planning approaches relevant to professional discipline.
  • Extensive familiarity with ethical considerations in the mental health field.
  • Possesses sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Possesses experience in the assessment and treatment of clients requiring psychoactive medication.
  • Ability to perform basic physical and psychosocial assessments.
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology and psychopharmacological interactions.
 
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Shift Days  
Hours Monday - Friday, 8:30 to 5:00 pm  
Pay Range $110k-$115k
