Adventure Summary

This position manages the demand and requirements planning processes, monitors the buy report, and maintains acceptable inventory performance for assigned categories. Ensures that the buy plan is reasonable and reflects current business conditions. Primary metrics for assigned categories are inventory turn performance and product availability. Secondary metrics include gross revenue & product margin. Works in partnership with Product Manager to ensure effective life cycle management of assigned product groups.


What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for efficient purchase of inventory items, supplies, raw materials and components
  • Communicates with Suppliers, and various departments regarding product issues: quantity, quality, pricing, availability, delivery time, and invoicing
  • Responsible for demand Planning, Inventory Performance, and Material Purchases of assigned skus
  • Review and manage EOZ, promotions and new product to ensure balanced inventory while upholding Demand Planning needs. Product Life Cycle Mgmt.
  • Review, set up, and run forecasts and order plans to assist buying, and adjust significant forecast history variations as needed
  • Makes sure that the order plan and system messages are correct to the extent that they are actionable
  • Works with and mentored by senior peers in Brand Planning to review various forecast models and advise of any needed forecast modifiers.
  • Works in compliance with environmental and safety regulatory agencies
  • Monitor open purchase order commitments and adjust as necessary.
  • Manage inventory turns & availability performance while maintaining appropriate levels of customer service
  • Monitor the order plan and make sure that the replenishment plan makes sense and matches the inventory forecast
  • Manage the daily tactical purchasing activity and supplier relationships.
  • Participate in New Products Meetings and Category Scorecard Reviews.
  • Review Kit Build reports and work with warehouse to prioritize issues.
  • Create and review product quotes with suppliers: for part updates/replacements
  • Review available inventory allocations. (currently between GRN & Kit warehouses. New ERP Kit-Build allocation may exist)
  • Creates and distributes Monthly (and mid-month) EOZ reports.
  • Review monthly/yearly supplier stats for lead time, PO data, returns, etc.
  • Set up and maintain item master data, including new skus and changes.
  • Update item Product Structure (BOM) as needed/requested
  • Familiarize with FFL regulations as related to warehouse inventory
  • May attend industry events such as Trade Shows, SHOT, etc.
  • Minimal travel may be required


What You Will Need

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain Management or related 4-year degree required
  • Minimum 6 months purchasing experience
  • Minimum 1 year relevant job experience
  • At least one of: CPSM, APICS Certification (CPIM), CPP, or willing to obtain


Knowledge & Skills

  • Passing knowledge/ familiarity with FFL/ATF requirements relating to warehouse needs
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Must have or be willing to acquire knowledge of industry and product
  • Capable of understanding complex data relationships and higher-level Excel functions to merge and filter data into usable report formats
  • Familiarity with blueprints, Six Sigma, and lean concepts a plus

Physical Demands

Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities.
