A nurse manager for Personal Care is an LPN who possesses managerial skills and demonstrates exceptional expertise in the clinical area. She/he is directly responsible to the Executive Director as she attempts to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment to ensure quality resident care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs all skills and techniques as directed by the Kentucky Board of Nursing for the license held.


  1. Assumes delegated managerial responsibilities as directed by the Director of Nursing and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing.


  1. Participates in committees/clinical meetings to evaluate and improve standards of resident care.


  1. Plans, directs and supervises all nursing care on assigned unit.


  1. Collaborates with medical staff through informal and formal settings.


  1. Communicate staff and resident concerns to appropriate staff.


  1. Evaluates staff performances on assigned unit.




  1. Assumes responsibility for individual resident care when needed.


  1. Gives nursing care as a teaching-learning experience.


  1. Plans, supervises and evaluates resident needs, nursing care and progress by making daily rounds and resident assessment as needed.


  1. Provides assistance, direction and teaching of nursing care to all personnel on the unit.


  1. Establishes working relationship with physicians to develop, coordinate and deliver medical treatment and nursing care.


  1. Has excellent communication skills to keep all staff abreast of information needed to provide quality resident care.


  1. Performs and supervises staff to ensure proper detailed documentation is completed to meet individual resident needs.


  1. Coordinates and ensures good interdepartmental communication to meet the needs of residents, staff and facility.


  1. Promotes staff development by encouraging and assigning personnel to attend in-services and educational programs.


  1. Performs staff evaluations timely and fairly.


  1. Provides for and promotes good communication within the unit.


  1. Promotes an environment conducive to healing and maintaining resident comfort and dignity.


  1. Assists with employee and/or resident grievances.


  1. Assists with management of state and federal surveys.
  1. Performs on-call responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director
Position Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.


  • Progressive experience in nursing practice and nursing leadership.


  • Current LPN license in the state of Kentucky.


  • Current knowledge and skill in nursing practice.
