Job Title: Shipper/Receiver

Position summary: Under the general supervision of the Production & Materials Coordinator, verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the listed duties to quality and productivity standards.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Operate lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas
  • Operate the stretch wrapper and banders
  • Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with appropriate personnel to rectify damages and shortages
  • Receive and process all defective product returned for replacement or credit
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  • Perform all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods
  • Support the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations
  • Ensure clean and safe warehouse and storage areas
  • Perform related work as assigned
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Report any potential food safety, legality, quality, or food defense concerns to management or quality personnel
  • Maintain product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection.  Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • High school/GED
  • Minimum one year of experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Forklift license or the ability to obtain forklift license.
  • Experience with a narrow aisle standup reach truck

Qualifications desired:

  • Self-starter
  • Organized
  • Ability to multitask
  • Attention to detail/ability to recognize inaccurate data
  • Experience using electric or manual pallet jacks
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control systems
