Description

General Purpose

The Manager, Safety, Quality and Training (SQT) is an integral position that provides strategic and tactical leadership, direction, implementation and maintenance of programs and controls for SQT throughout the organization. This includes organizational compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate health and safety regulations/requirements. Manages SQT process improvements and provides leadership at employee safety meetings.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manages all SQT performance tracking and legal compliance
  • Assists with new employee activities regarding on-boarding related to SQT
  • Provides proactive recommendations to prevent incidents and injuries and drives continuous improvement
  • Drives the improvement of OSHA total recordable incidence rate (TRIR), days away, restricted, transferred (DART) rate, vehicle accident rate, and Experience Modifier Rating (EMR)
  • Maintains and reports OSHA 300 logs
  • Reviews and reports data through required compliance entities, such as ISNetworld®, Avetta®, Gold Shovel Standard (GSS), National Compliance Management Servcie (NCMS), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and others
  • Develops, implements, reviews, updates and administers SQT programs, training requirements, Quality Assurance, SOPs, and policies to drive continuous improvement and promotes culture consistent with company values
  • Partners with department Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors and Human Resources to drive a positive safety culture
  • Oversees investigation of damages, accidents and injuries and assists in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use in hearings, litigation, and insurance investigations.
  • Conducts safety training for employees upon hire, as scheduled, and as needed
  • Oversees worker reinstatement and alternative assignment practices (light duty)
  • Responds to personnel inquiries regarding safety issues for the purpose of investigating, determining root cause and/or corrective measure recommendations
  • Develops and disseminates weekly toolbox meeting materials and presentation of appropriate monthly All Hands safety topics
  • Prepares and responds to existing and potential client requests of safety qualifications
  • Prepares and maintains facilitator materials, session plan, visual aids and handouts for training sessions

Supervisory Duties (if any)

  • Manages and leads direct reports
  • Instructs employees on company core values, company and client policies, and safety policies

Experience:

  • Seven (5+) plus years of experience in environmental health and safety is required;
  • Seven (5+) plus years background working in construction or utility industries is required. Gas owould be a huge advantage.
  • Five (3+) plus years of project management and team leadership experience is required
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis

Job Qualifications
Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in occupational safety & health, engineering, or related field preffered but not essential
• 7-10 years of experience in environmental health and safety, or background in construction or
pipeline
• Project management and team leadership experience
• Strong communication skills

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required
within two weeks of employment.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks, a Department
of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job and pass a pre-employment
drug screen.
