Over the past 30 years, U.S. News has established a reputation as a data-driven force in the higher education landscape. As a Product Manager, you will be driving product success across our higher education business. You will play a role in helping improve our products through qualitative analysis and product lifecycle development, along with creating new products. You will help develop goals and work teams to meet and exceed KPIs while never forgetting to maximize the value that U.S. News can provide to its consumers, partners, and customers. This role will require you to constantly be thinking outside the box, evaluating initiatives and competition while ensuring your products are focused on meeting the vertical and business goals.

Are you up to the challenge?

Product Planning and Management:

  • Lead large-scale, time-sensitive projects within a cross-functional team

  • Support the product strategy and roadmap for a suite of higher education products, including app development.

  • Oversee products and define new features based on business needs, user feedback, and market opportunities.

  • Work with internal stakeholders, including design, tech, legal, data, and editorial teams, to shepherd the full product development lifecycle, from conception & wireframes through delivery and optimization. Maintain strong communication channels between all stakeholders.

  • Use market and competitive analysis, vertical goals, and technology capabilities to assess new opportunities for product expansion

  • Develop solutions that are inclusive of all types of consumers.

Research and Analysis:

  • Ability to analyze data and build business models that support informed business decisions

  • Track and report on product performance, including financial performance, customer experience, audience engagement, and other key performance indicators

  • Use data to make intelligent product decisions

 
Position Requirements

You should definitely have:

  • 3+ years of experience with digital product management

  • Curiosity about what the numbers can tell us and how data can become useful information. Exceptional quantitative and qualitative reasoning ability

  • Deep experience using Google Analytics

  • Advanced experience with Excel and other data analysis tools

  • Strong written and oral communication skills to clearly explain and interpret the numbers without jargon

  • Comfort working with a variety of stakeholders, including executives, product managers, developers, designers, writers, and editors

  • Strong understanding and experience in Agile methodology and UI/UX principles

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience in building products that support performance marketing outcomes

  • A hunger to create best in class products

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience with a tag manager, ad server, demand-side platform, and other digital media systems (e.g., Tealium, Google 360, comScore, Sailthru)

  • Experience with surveys and user research methods

  • Experience in building and launching an app is a plus
