Share Email Opening Title PACT Team - Certified Peer Recovery Specialist   Description The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking one individual for a full time Certified Peer Recovery Specialist position with our PACT Team (Program for Assertive Community Treatment). The incumbent will perform  intermediate skilled human support work involving the assessment of client needs and providing access to needed and appropriate services including treatment, rehabilitation and service linkage, case monitoring and client advocacy functions, and related work as apparent or assigned. The individual hired for this position must have had lived experience receiving mental health services for a severe and persistent mental illness. The incumbent will demonstrate a beginning awareness of mental health issues, knowledge of human development and will posses the ability to form and maintain relationships with consumers, community service providers and staff. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned Program Supervisor.   Essential Functions Provides support through the transportation-encouragement-role model. Facilitates group meetings; composes minutes for meetings. Develops wellness recovery action plan with consumers; develops a plan of care appropriate to the evaluation with the client/family consensus; assists clients in developing recovery goals. Provides and administers medications to clients. Monitors and assesses client’s mental health status; provides supportive counseling as needed. Provides crisis intervention services. Arranges and provides transportation for clients to appointments, grocery stores, offices, etc; takes clients on social outings. Provides documentation of services; provides group notes; maintains medical records. Develops staff and client schedules. Attends training and team meetings as required.   Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Some knowledge of community and Authority resources and programs of regional and State sources for the community service population; some knowledge of interviewing and supportive counseling techniques; some knowledge of social casework techniques; some knowledge of human development and behavior; some knowledge of the theories, principles and techniques of individual, family and group therapy; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement, medical personnel, clients, associates and the general public. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED with coursework in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field and moderate experience working with adults in a mental health setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPRS with VDH required. Special Requirements Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
