Description

Job Summary:

The School Aged Child Care Program Staff is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing recreational and creative experiences for school age children in a group setting. The incumbent will provide quality hands on recreational experiences for children that focus on promoting healthy attitudes and lifestyles through safe, respectful, fun and diverse learning experiences.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the writing and implementation of weekly lesson plans.
  • Organize and lead a variety of activities appropriate for school age children. Activities may include arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, enrichment activities, etc.
  • Ensure that the site is kept clean and organized.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, daily rosters, logbook documentation, and attendance records.
  • Assist in completing child and program evaluations.
  • Maintain CACFP and Minnesota Department of Health Licensing for meals and snacks, if applicable.

Relationships:

This position reports to the SAC Lead who reports to the Center Director/Assistant Director. The incumbent interacts regularly with children, parents, and staff members from diverse backgrounds.

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Certifications required within 30 days of hire: Adult and child CPR or CPR/PR; First Aid; and AED
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities.
  • Good skills in communication, organization, and human relations.
  • Willingness to work with diverse populations

 

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working with school age children.
  • Knowledge of CACFP Program requirements

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Individual must have the ability to get to and from various sites/events/meetings in the metro area on an occasional basis.
