The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Education and Public Engagement, the School and Teacher Programs Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing programs. You should be a creative, energetic professional who will bring a deep knowledge of the Los Angeles K-12 educational ecosystem. Working in collaboration with colleagues in the Education and Public Engagement department, you will think cohesively about the visitor experience to bring forth a student and teacher-centered voice that will impact work across the department. 

You Will:

  • Author curriculum that includes creative, appropriate discussions and activities for K-12 grade levels while incorporating Common Core state curriculum standards.
  • Articulate program goals along with ways to evaluate and measure its impact.
  • Create and implement feedback loops and focus groups to ensure student and teacher voices are incorporated in the program offerings.
  • Develop infrastructure for the operations and logistics of the programs in cross-collaboration with colleagues across the museum.
  • Lead the facilitation of the school and teacher programs with support from Teaching Artists, contractors, and other guest artists.
  • Lead a collaborative process of co-creating with numerous stakeholders and constituents.
  • Utilize the Shirley Temple Education Studio and digital media technology to create learner-centered experiences using various education formats, including tours and workshops.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience in education, digital media education, non-profit management, or related profession.
  • 5+ years’ experience working directly with teachers, students, and/or schools.
  • Facilitation skills with prior teaching experience.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate evening and weekend programs.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish/English preferred.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
