POSITION SUMMARY:
As a member of the Tohono O’odham Nation Health Care executive management team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will participate in the financial and functional decision-making processes necessary for the successful attainment of Health Care’s mission in addition to maintaining an awareness of changes in healthcare matters that could have an impact on Health Care’s success. Provides leadership and coordination in the administrative, business, planning, billing, accounting, and budgeting efforts. Oversees the management of the daily operations of the financial and related functions of the organization. Ensures the execution of all accounting and financial operations in accordance with system of internal controls and all applicable tribal, state and federal regulations and I accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards.

SCOPE OF WORK:
The CFO reports directly to the Health Care’s Chief Executive Officer and will supervise the Finance Department.

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or business related field.
  • Five years’ progressive work experience in governmental and fund accounting, auditing, finance and computerized accounting.
  • Three years of experience with health care financial management systems.
  • Five years of supervisory experience.

Licenses, Certifications, Special Requiements:

  • Must have current and maintain a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license.
  • Master’s in Business Administration Degree, preferred.
  • Upon recommendation for hire a criminal background and National FBI check is required to determine suitability for hire.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years).
  • Must submit a 39-month driving record with the employment application.
  • Must meet the Tohono O’odham Nation’s tribal employer’s insurance requirements to receive a driver’s permit to operate program vehicles.
  • Based on the department’s needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O’odham Language and English as a condition of employment.

About the Organization The Tohono O'odham Nation is a federally-recognized tribe that includes approximately 28,000 members occupying tribal lands in Southwestern Arizona. The Nation is the second largest reservations in Arizona in both population and geographical size, with a land base of 2.8 million acres and 4,460 square miles, approximately the size of the State of Connecticut. Its four non-contiguous segments total more than 2.8 million acres at an elevation of 2,674 feet.
