Therapist - Mental Health - Adult Outpatient

Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated Therapist to provide admission evaluations to adults with the possibility of providing evaluations and interventions for youth and/or adolescent individuals. Provide initial follow up with clients and staff to ensure customer satisfaction. Complete clinical assessments to determine the necessity of higher levels of care using the Kansas screening process.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Works closely with community partners to problem solve complex situations and develop plans for immediate and appropriate interventions.
  • Respond quickly to conduct rapid mental status assessments, suicide risk assessments, intakes, hospital screens, on-site as requested by community partners.
  • Provides crisis interventions on-scene with individuals (child/adult), families, and/or others present as needed, with an emphasis on assessing needs, securing appropriate level-of-care services, and minimizing trauma.
  • Provides triage and assessments to consumers presenting for same day services
  • Conducts admission evaluations as needed, both on a scheduled and walk-in basis
  • Coordinate and facilitate referrals to appropriate services in the community and under our Wyandot Center umbrella, including RSI.
  • Conduct hospital admission screens and oversee the admission process.
  • Strive to develop intervention plans that prevent or reduce admissions to jail and hospital, when other interventions can meet the needs.
  • When appropriate, share relevant clinical information from EHR to assist with the resolution of a crisis.
  • Assigned duties will require travel to community hospitals throughout the Kansas City Metro area, detention centers, nursing homes for mental health, law enforcement calls, RSI, or any additional community based site requesting mobile assistance.
  • Assist with the development of diversion plans to help reduce/prevent hospitalizations and incarcerations;
  • Model and inspire flexibility and creativity in the delivery of clinical services.
  • Adhere to and remain compliant with Medicaid, State licensing regulations, grant and other contractual standards.
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Must be Qualified / Mental Health Professional and currently be licensed through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board.
  • Must have familiarity with Trauma-Informed systems of care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both oral and written.
  • Crisis and Access Services requires strong team skills with a positive spirit, high energy and a “can-do” personality.
  • Relevant experience in mental health crisis services and community resources.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with personnel from multiple systems, including law enforcement and community service agencies.
  • Ability to facilitate planning meetings with individuals from multiple systems.
  • Proficient in use of technology, including Microsoft Office.
  • Provide and maintain dependable transportation and auto insurance.
  • Ability to build and maintain close working relationships with clients and community partners.
  • Ability to provide direction for programming and planning purposes.

Pay Range $4l - $42 + % if bi-lingual
