Description

The Clinical Aide assists the nursing and medical staff with a variety of duties that ensure the smooth running of the medical clinic. These duties include ordering and maintaining medical and laboratory supplies, medication samples, medical equipment, stocking exam rooms and supply rooms, cleaning medical equipment, and maintaining resource materials.

Program-Related Activities

  • Brings clients to the exam room, provides instructions to client to prepare them for their visit
  • Ensures all clinical areas are clean and disinfected in accordance to practices and standards.
  • Each room is cleaned and disinfected after each occupancy.
  • Gathers, cleans, and assembles medical trays, sterilizes and organizes medical equipment (speculums, medical trays, scissors etc.) and delivers to exam rooms.
  • Change solutions in which material has been soaking and change cleaning solutions located in exam and drug rooms.
  • Cleans sterilizer and runs bio indicators for medical trays, scissors etc. at regular intervals according to established schedule.
  • Restocks all supplies in exam rooms and lab and notifies the appropriate staff member when quantities are low.
  • Orders medical supplies for the lab from appropriate suppliers.
  • Assists medical administrative team with general clerical duties such as helping collecting client survey data, photocopying blank forms, stocking office supplies, etc. as required.
  • Checks the expiry dates of the samples, orders samples as necessary, dispose of the expired drugs at the end of each month, and update drug inventory on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintains general upkeep of the clinic, such as returning equipment to proper storage areas.
  • Orders educational material for client use, as required.
  • Maintains and updates waiting area and clinic signage and patient information kits and pamphlets.
  • Ensures MSDS sheets are updated as required.
  • Participates in Health and Safety Meetings.
  • Maintains pandemic and other emergency supplies according to established guidelines.
  • Performs other appropriate duties as directed by the Clinical Coordinator, Program Director, or Medical Office Administrator
 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Completion of secondary school education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience in a community setting or combination of community and hospital/public health settings; experience in primary care settings an asset; demonstrate ability to work under Medical Directives.
  • Proficiency in typing and in the use of computers and various software applications. Additional training in computer software applications and/or secretarial skills, an asset.
  • Experience and understanding of marginalized communities and health needs.
  • Commitment to health and Safety.
  • Must be open-minded and non-judgemental, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Bilingual in French and English considered an asset.

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in a third language relevant to our client population is an asset.

Other Requirements

Salary Range $18.64/hour - $22.26/hour
