The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Film Programs, the Film Programs Coordinator will be an essential participant in the conception, planning and implementation of the museum’s film screenings and series. The position is seeking an energetic, responsible, innovative, and organized candidate with knowledge of film history and non-theatrical film programming.

You Will:

  • Support the programming team with title sourcing and booking.
  • Program series, screenings and write screening notes as needed.
  • At times introduce screenings.
  • Prioritize and manage a complex, deadline-driven work schedule.
  • Coordinate meetings, keep notes, and distribute minutes.
  • Generate and maintain spreadsheets tracking screening dates, series, film titles, sources, costs, formats, event partners, and other requirements.
  • Maintain and update expense spreadsheets.
  • Prepare quarter-end and year-end expense reports.
  • Keep track of co-sponsorships and grants.
  • Assist with logistical arrangements for visiting filmmakers, artists, and scholars.
  • Plan and books flights, ground transportation, and accommodations for visitors.
  • Manage paperwork for expense reports (for visitors and within department).
  • Communicate essential internal information and logistics to theater operations staff.
  • Handle print traffic in absence of the Print Traffic Manager.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in film studies or equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in non-profit film programming.
  • Basic knowledge of film history and technology.
  • Familiarity with film and video formats and digital moving image media.
  • Skill in reading and composing correspondence and reports.
  • Experience using MS Office programs and database software.
