Description

JOB SUMMARY: Provides specialized services (i.e. dual disorder and substance abuse counseling) in addition to the required general services to the consumer to foster wellness and recovery. The Dual Disorder Specialist is responsible for the development, coordination and delivery of consumer responsive substance abuse/dual disorder services utilizing the resources of the PC and those available within the community including other social service agencies, self-help programs, etc. Participates in the planning and provision of interdisciplinary training and skill development for all members of the team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Contributes (in collaboration and under the supervision of the Team Leader/Clinician) in the development, supervision, training and coordination of staff and their professional activities with respect to the delivery of substance abuse/dual disorder related services, thus fostering an effective environment conducive to wellness and recovery.
  2. Conducts substance abuse/dual disorder assessments as necessary upon intake and/or upon request by the consumer and/or other members of the PC team.
  3. Participates in the intake screening, treatment planning and discharge review process assuring appropriate substance abuse/dual disorder treatment, management and decision-making processes are in effect with respect to the services available and offered to the consumer.
  4. Responsible for maintaining accurate and current records on all consumers
  5. Conducts dual disorder focused, individual, group and family educational and counseling programs/sessions addressing the needs of the consumer and his/her family.
  6. Provides representation on behalf of the agency, Partial Care Program and/or the consumer at various interdisciplinary service coordination meetings.
  7. Contributes to and participates in the delivery of interdisciplinary in-service training and case conferences.
  8. Participates Agency QI process.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science/Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Counseling, Nursing, etc.) from an accredited college/university. Two years of experience in the delivery of community mental health/addiction services to adults with serious, persistent mental illness and substance abuse.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED: Candidate must be in process of obtaining CADC or LCADC eligible. CADC/ LCADC preferred.

MANDATED PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:

Code of Conduct: Adheres to the professional code of conduct and ethics governing client/consumer and therapist relationships as established by Catholic Charities, the National Association of Social Workers, the American Psychological Association, the American Nursing Association and/or the New Jersey Alcohol and Other Drugs of Abuse Certification Board.
