We are seeking a Senior Electromagnetic Environment Effects (E3) Designer to join our team in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will:

  • Provide support developing and maintaining U.S. Navy amphibious ship Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems / subsystems.
  • Review shipbuilder work packages, drawings, Initial Change Proposals (ICP), Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), waterfront changes, work items, and participate in design reviews.
  • Be able to assess, evaluate and provide recommendations related to Combat Systems (CS) test event results that may affect systems’ operation.
  • Manage Block Diagram for C4ISR on LHA-class ship. Analyze Work Specifications, Technical Data Packages, Ship Change Documents, and Change Proposals for accuracy, and provide associated contract drawing corrections.
  • Assess compliance with NAVSEA design standards.
  • Support production design and construction oversight and review processes to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Maintain communications with SUPSHIP, NAVAIR, SPAWAR and other commands, to assist in resolving technical issues affecting (or having potential to affect) the design or performance of C4ISR systems.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience related to U.S. Navy ship topside design and/or C4ISR/CS.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy shipbuilding ICPs, ECPs and SHIPALTs to determine technical and programmatic impact and recommended courses of action for shipbuilders / C4ISR systems acquisition.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy shipbuilding (acquisition, design, production, test and trials) is required.
  • Applicant must have excellent oral and written communications and be capable of productive and efficient work with limited or no supervision.
  • Must be able to present complex ideas and create presentations for senior military and civilian leaders.
  • Microsoft Word & Excel proficiency.
  • AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Active Secret clearance.

 

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
