Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to assist in the leadership, strategy, and successful implementation of Early Childhood Education Centers in the areas of: specialty programs, quality service delivery, daily operation, data collection, program materials, curriculum, CACFP, Strong Beginnings, governing agencies requirements, consistency, standards, staffing and systems. Coaches and supports ECE center leadership, supervises department specialists, ensures that programs are in alignment with YWCA’s mission and values. In addition, the position partners with various YWCA departments to ensure that Early Childhood practices are in alignment with Human Resources, O/A Finance/Accounting, and Marketing standards and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leads and directs Early Childhood Education Centers

  • Support the creation of, interpret, and implement program strategies initiatives supported by leadership at all ECE Centers.
  • Assist in developing and implementation of department operational policies, procedures, strategies, methods and goals that are in alignment with the annual budget, Early Childhood Education vision, YWCA mission and organizational policies
  • Coordinate and/or assist in management of activities of the Directors team, such as operating, planning, enrollment, program marketing, facility and equipment maintenance to effect operational efficiency and consistency
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of operational standards and procedures for the department
  • Ensure the ECE department’s financial goals and budgets are met
  • Ensure that center practices are in alignment with Human Resources, Finance, Marketing and O/A standards and procedures
  • In collaboration with Directors and ECE leadership team, actively perform competitive research and analysis to evaluate existing programs as trends and standards change for continuous improvement and innovative opportunities
  • Practice conflict resolution that models respect for differences, is non-threatening, calm, and de-escalating in style
  • Practice excellent communication and teamwork skills organization wide
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Facilitate the accurate and timely completion of administrative tasks (i.e. paperwork, payroll and operational and financial reports)
  • Participate in special events or projects as assigned

Provide leadership and supervision:

  • Direct supervise, develop and provide leadership for association specialist and cross department teams. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, disciplining and dismissing employees; addressing complaints and solving problems
  • Develop and maintain a system to measure and evaluate individuals and department’s performance against established expectations and standards
  • Ensure direct reports receive training and are competent in supervisory responsibilities (corrective action, performance reviews, addressing complaints and solving problems, staff coaching, writing job descriptions etc.)
  • Step in to cover gaps in center leadership

Administration:

  • Manage compliance and reporting for government and funding contracts, USDA, Licensing, Strong Beginnings and Accreditation
  • Budget development and implementation
  • Grant data and reporting
  • Systems process support CRM and ProCare, and parent apps and systems

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Vice President, Early Childhood Education. The incumbent will interact with Early Childhood Education Directors, center leadership, parents, children, Controller/finance team, Human Resources, marketing, partners, community organizations and representatives.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in child development or Early Childhood Education or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of Early Childhood Center Director experience with a minimum of three years of experience with diverse populations.
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience, including experience with budgeting and financial management.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, including financial management, statistics, analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex financial data from various sources (government, scholarships, etc.).
  • Strong Knowledge of Early Childhood Education and Developmentally Appropriate Practice
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Products, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong teambuilding, interpersonal, coaching, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent planning and implementation skills.
  • Proven skills in leadership, customer service and staff development.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse styles, cultures, and perspectives.
  • Strong conflict resolution and critical thinking skills

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Administration preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • The Employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to work at a computer for an extended period of time.
    • Individual must have the ability to get to and from various sites/events/meetings in the metro area on a frequent basis at varying times and days.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $62, 400 - $78, 000 Per Annual (depending on qualifications)
