Market Merchandising Specialist Position Overview:

The Market Merchandising Specialist will maximize Suja’s brand and product on-shelf availability, visibility, and opportunities within all assigned retail outlets in a designated market. Focusing on our top volume retail partners within the grocery and natural class of trade, by acting as the brand expert and advocate within those accounts daily. Working closely with a team of internal and external Suja sales and marketing personnel, along with distribution and selling partners to maximize our brand’s potential within the assigned market.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete daily in-store merchandising calls on assigned retail targets within the market geography with a focus on account development to achieve maximum brand and business potential.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with all retail level leadership key contacts in produce, dairy and operations to expand reach within store to maximize brand potential in each location and chain covered.
  • Fully develop on-shelf conditions, in-stock availability, and promotional activities of Suja to build brand loyalty in all trade channels within assigned market.
  • Maximize merchandising potential, increase brand presence, and eliminate out of stock conditions in all assigned retailers by executing Suja point of sale items, stackers, cold box displays, and secondary placement opportunities using tools provided by the company.
  • Activate and implement strategic Suja sales and marketing initiatives within account plans across assigned local account universe; ensuring account plans address promotions, ads, displays, distribution, availability enhancement, execution of price and package plans, and deliver account objectives within targeted per case investment guidelines.
  • Develop effective communication and working relationships with applicable selling partners such as distributors and broker teams.
  • Effectively communicate all successes, opportunities, and challenges equally via weekly sales recaps and expand as appropriate during standing check-ins and meetings
  • Check Suja inventory levels at each location and communicate all potential challenges to your internal and external support team and selling partners (Director of Merchandising, Sales Lead, Customer Solutions, and any appropriate Distributors and Brokers).
  • Participate in assigned retail level new item launches, point of sales initiatives, market blitzes, and like activation drives.
  • Report daily activities through company provided CRM mobile app.
  • Analyze and utilize sales, scan, and syndicated data to identify opportunity gaps and increase overall market sales.
  • Actively participate in market or customer specific trade shows, selling partner trainings, and the like as needed.

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred or 5-year successful track record selling consumer products in current area.
  • Must possess internal drive and fortitude, high energy, resourceful, responsible, flexible, and excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to work in a mobile environment and navigate assigned territory (extensive local travel with some overnight trips based on territory needs).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thrives in both a teamwork and independent initiative work environments.
  • Capable of analyzing information and assembling sales data for buyers and store managers.
  • Capable and willing to perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves, resetting displays and installing glide racks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, & Outlook) and ability to learn proprietary software applications.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and access to or ownership of automobile.
  • Must live in the Denver metro area.
