Description

The Tax Research Specialist researches the payment status for customers’ escrow and non-escrow loan portfolios as well as the procurement of delinquent tax amounts, fees, and penalties to cure delinquencies. Tax Research Specialist will also assist with processing refunds/return payments as well as obtain tax bills/amounts from multiple tax authorities nationwide and provides the information to the client. The role will include balancing client payments and preparing payments in bulk to ship to the tax authorities on behalf of LERETA clients.

  • Reviews agency websites, make/receives phone calls or review internal tax reports to identify the tax amounts that need to be procured/paid and report the findings to the client in a timely manner.
  • Balances client returns and assists with matching payment checks to vouchers/bills then prepares the packet for shipping to the appropriate tax authorities.
  • Performs basic clerical duties such as copying, scanning, and filing of property tax and other documentation.
  • Adheres to internal/external and client policies on security, privacy, and other compliance issues.
  • Views, has access to, and works with confidential financial data.
  • Processes and researches property tax refund/return checks from payments made to taxing authorities for the properties serviced throughout the United States.
  • Researches a high-volume of complex issues typically requiring advanced knowledge of customer business rules and LERETA’s requirements.
  • Researches delinquencies as well as procure payoff amounts and determines the root cause for delinquency.
  • Analyzes existing tax parcels and compares to agency information to confirm and validate the accuracy of the tax parcels and jurisdictions associated with the property.
  • Responds to clients and taxing agency jurisdictions by utilizing effective verbal and written communication in a prompt and accurate manner within the required SLA’s.
  • Transfers data obtained via phone, fax, or e-mail to the LERETA servicing system to accurately disseminate information to the customer.
  • Enters data received from tax collectors into the database.
  • Interprets tax amount data and status per property taxes received from taxing agency jurisdictions and effectively identifies tax status for payment processing.
 
Position Requirements

 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Microsoft® Office Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word skills
  • Must be able to type 35+ wpm (minimum)
  • Must be able to operate the 10-key by touch.
  • Advanced research skills / experience
  • Knowledge of LERETA’S products and services and researching property taxes.
  • Knowledge of servicing systems, browsers, databases, and other technologies to troubleshoot client issues
