The Director, Talent Development is responsible for the organization's talent development strategy as well as the design, delivery, and measurement of superior learning experiences that strengthen employee capabilities at all levels and contribute to organizational success.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify organization-wide and function-specific talent development needs; develop and implement strategic talent development initiatives and solutions to meet the needs of an evolving organization.
  • Develop the organization’s manager & leadership development framework and deliver development experiences that build manager and leader capabilities across the organization.
  • Define and implement a career mobility framework that clarifies individual development opportunities and equips leaders and employees with the tools to effectively chart their professional development and career paths.
  • Construct innovative, cost effective ways to package learning experiences and programs that enhance employee performance and engagement.
  • Partner with Human Resources on the design and efficacy of the organization’s performance management approach and processes to ensure alignment with talent development strategy.
  • Partner with the EVP, Human Resources on development and execution of a formal talent assessment and succession planning strategy and approach; leads the overall design and deployment of the organization's high potential, succession and other talent management strategies.
  • Establish operational and performance metrics that measure outcomes and efficacy of talent development initiatives and programs and support prioritization of talent development efforts.
  • Partner with EVP, Human Resources on organization’s workforce planning process to include the identification of critical skill gaps and strategies to fill those gaps to meet organizational needs.
  • Partner with D&I Manager to ensure that all talent development programs and processes align with the organization’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; proactively recognize DEI gaps in current processes and develop solutions that increase the engagement and advancement of underrepresented employees at the organization.
  • Drives the design and development of training content and/or fiscal-minded exploration of external partners, subject matter experts and available solutions; delivers learning curriculum exclusively, conducts “train the trainer” sessions, or identifies third party trainers to meet learning needs.
  • Serve as an organization champion and thought leader on talent development, and fosters a culture of continuous learning, growth mindset and knowledge sharing.
 
Position Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive talent development experience.
  • Instructional design and group facilitation experience.
  • Deep knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and measures of effective learning and development programs.
  • Certifications in L&D related tools/assessments strongly preferred.
  • Excellent project management, process management and organizational skills with experience leading organization-wide talent development initiatives from start to finish.
  • Strong relationship builder and collaborator who can influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to effectively present information to various, diverse audiences.
  • Significant experience in learning and development design and delivery in multiple methodologies.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the types and uses of modern, corporate learning and development technology.
  • High degree of flexibility to work in an innovative, fast-paced environment and readily embrace change.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree or certifications in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology and/or Training preferred.
  • Able to work both on a team (as member and/or leader) and independently to deliver results.
