Base Wage $26.38 - $28.99 per hour based on education and experience

Summary

The Grant Accountant applies principles of accounting and is the subject matter expert for the Early Head Start federal grant/Early Head Start Child Care Partnership (EHS CCP) grant. This includes maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial statements and completing all grant-related functions. Utilizes QuickBooks Accounting software to process data and complete reports and other documentation.

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Grant Processing and Reporting (30%)

  • Prepare grant reports for review by the CFO, executive leadership, Policy Council, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Monitor coding and allocations between programs and the EHS CCP grant.
  • Generate, audit and file payable reports along with supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile and analyze all related general ledger journals, ledgers, and/or other records on a monthly basis for accuracy of coding.
  • Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, company procedures, and rules and regulations regarding proper use of State and Federal Grant funds, eg., 45 CFR Part 75 (Uniform Guidance) and Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Assist with any and all EHS CCP audit preparation and needs.
  • Oversee period close processes to include monthly, quarterly, and annual timeframes.

Budgeting (25%):

  • Assist in preparing and tracking annual EHS CCP budgets and EHS CCP program along with Chief Financial Officer.
  • Prepare budgeting cost analysis to be utilized during budget planning.

Account Analysis and Financial Reporting (25%)

  • Review financial data to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting, in addition to preparing financial expenditure projections and assist with financial analysis as needed.
  • Utilize accounting software and other approved financial systems to prepare and analyze monthly, detailed financial reports.
  • Prepare detailed notes to explain variances to Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Policy Council, and management.

Other (20%)

  • Other duties as assigned such as trainings, meetings, assisting Chief Financial Officer.
