We are currently seeking a motivated wastewater/storm water collection system civil engineer for full time work in Symbiont’s fast paced yet informal work environment in our Peoria, Illinois office. Candidate will be responsible for assisting with wastewater and storm water collection system evaluation, planning, and design projects to solve municipal collection system problems related to combined and sanitary sewer overflows, flooding, and collection system aging. Candidate also is also expected to work on industrial site civil design projects.
Candidates must have a minimum of a B.S. in civil or environmental engineering; have passed the fundamentals of engineering exam before starting work; collection system analysis or design experience; and the ability to learn quickly and stay organized. Candidate must be able to effectively coordinate with a larger project team, self-perform work, and be receptive to feedback and mentoring. Experience with project management; Civil 3D; plan and specification preparation; a mainstream hydrologic/hydraulic modeling program such as SWMM (PCSWMM, XPSWMM, InfoSWMM, etc.) or MIKE URBAN; infiltration and inflow studies; sewer system rehabilitation; site civil design with storm water modeling and permitting; or green infrastructure would be helpful.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience, strong academic credentials, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent professional and academic references.
Symbiont offers a competitive salary and benefits. Work hours will generally be 8am – 5pm, Monday through Friday, though occasionally, earlier or later hours may be required. Symbiont is a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Top Work Place and a Future 50 firm.
