JOB SUMMARY:

The Case Manager position provides direct service to participants in grades 6-12 in the Resolution and Prevention (RAP) program. This part-time position delivers individual and group support and activities for girls who are involved, or at-risk of being involved, with the juvenile justice system. RAP programming promotes the healthy development of girls in a safe and supportive environment.

 

Hours:

 

20-25 hrs/wk Monday – Friday daytime/early evening hours, with occasional weekend programming

Shifts and sites vary based on program need

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Implement comprehensive programming:

  • Open one-on-one cases through referrals from county and state agencies via home intakes and visits
  • Make home visits as required for recruitment through county contract agreement
  • Recruit and maintain program participants by providing program presentations to schools and youth serving agencies
  • Plan, prepare and facilitate/co-facilitate age appropriate and culturally sensitive educational activities utilizing Girls Inc. and Girls & Youth curriculum
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is student-centered, mission-focused, and accessible to a diverse student body
  • Support communication with participants and families, and organize and support retention efforts to maintain participants
  • Attend family and school meetings and support youth through the court process when applicable
  • Build and maintain working relationships with external partners

Administration

  • Collect registration forms, participant demographic information, and track program attendance
  • Deliver and obtain program evaluation information from participants for program quality assurance and reporting purposes
  • Maintain case management records through a data management system with a commitment to accuracy and regularity
  • Write monthly summaries of activities and impact of direct service on participants
  • Responsibly manage funds for expenses related to programming

Seek continuous professional development

  • Attend and participate in departmental and program team meetings
  • Participate in educational activities and trainings to improve achievement of program goals
  • Keep up-to-date on current youth and program-related trends.

 

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the RAP Coordinator, who reports to the Girls Inc. Program Director. The incumbent will interact with Girls and Youth staff, school contacts, and community organizations. Critical relationships will include program participants and families.

 

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Required:

  • BA in sociology, psychology, anthropology, social work, criminal justice, or related field with relevant experience
  • One year experience planning and facilitating effective, structured groups
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to facilitate and teach comprehensive groups
  • Ability to carry out duties independently, as well as in a team setting
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to make quick decisions while using good judgment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Possess current CPR and First Aid certification, or successfully obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Strong belief in YWCA and ability to convey its importance

Preferred:

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Somali, or Hmong
  • Experience in youth programming related to adolescent development
  • Experience with staff training, volunteer management, or marketing and outreach
  • Experience with data entry in online data management systems

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to travel to various YWCA Minneapolis, Minneapolis Public Schools, and community sites

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $18.00-$21.00 per hour (depending on qualifications)
