Your role at MOBE

We are looking for a Actuarial Analyst with expertise in price setting and financial planning to join our growing team. The Actuary will be responsible finding solutions to balance costs and risks, conducting regular rate analysis, researching and pricing products and forecast development. The right candidate will apply his or her talents at our progressive, growing company.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain actuarial processes and controls consistent with best practices to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Develop and maintain reinsurance pricing model that is unique to the industry, working with health plan or self-insured clients when appropriate
  • Lead the monthly reserving process for timely close
  • Maintain, streamline and improve capabilities of reserving models
  • Monitor risk pool experience and develop expert knowledge of all risk accounts
  • Work with finance on budgeting and forecast
  • Assist with accuracy of monthly billing processes
  • Coordinate year-end and interim third party audits
  • Serve as expert in medical economics, cost trends and drivers
  • Provide ongoing feedback and requirements to data stewards and owners
  • Review the work of peers and provide feedback on deliverables
  • Work closely and build rapport with internal clients across all functional areas
  • Other duties as assigned to help fulfill our Mission and abide by MOBE’s Guiding Principles
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or other financial/analytical curriculum
  • 4 – 5 years of insurance industry experience
  • Healthcare industry experience analyzing medical and pharmacy claims data
  • Highly proficient with SQL and Excel, including with pivot tables
  • Experience partnering with finance teams
  • Experience working with complex multidimensional data models
  • Highly organized and reliable with the ability to manage many simultaneous projects
  • Strong sense of data and reporting accuracy and security

Preferred

  • Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and/or Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • Experience with regression software (R, SAS, Python)
  • Experience working with reporting platforms such as Tableau, Oracle Business Intelligence, Qlikview, or BusinessObjects in both an analytical and development capacity
