Description

Clinician needed for full-time, temporary position in Montgomery County. Hours are M-F, working 7.5 hrs each day.

Provides psychotherapy/counseling to the students, consultation to families, staff, and community-based professionals. Provides diagnostic services to students; participate in IEP meetings; provides crisis intervention; advocates for student's needs; serves as liaison between organization, families and community-based providers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct individual therapy/counseling, group therapy/counseling and crisis intervention for assigned students.
  • Provides consultation for the parents and/or families of assigned students via on-campus appointments, telephone conferences, letters, and/or emails.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other team members (internal and external) who provide services to the same students, participates in meetings concerning those students and families, and contributes to the development of prescriptive programs for such students and families.
  • Assists, supports and serves as a consultant to organization's Educational and Related Services staff who share responsibilities for the same students.
  • Directly observes the behavior and performance of assigned students in all areas of the program.
  • Participates in IEP meetings, re-evaluation report meetings, treatment team meetings according to one's area of professional expertise; contributes information to both the IEP document and re-evaluation report of the students on their caseload. Such information should include present levels of functioning, assessment data, and/or contain relevant recommendations.
  • Writes social/emotional IEP goals for the students on their caseloads, report progress on the IEP goals on a quarterly basis.
  • Attends Diagnostic Case Conferences and participates in the discussion of diagnostic cases.
  • Assists in the communication and clarification of pertinent information to parents of assigned students, e.g., progress reports, students' illnesses, program changes, diagnostic reevaluations, etc.
  • Keeps adequate and pertinent records (usually in summary form) of direct work with assigned students and their parents and prepares periodic progress reports.
  • Attends and participates in Clinical Staff Meeting/Seminars.
  • Represents the School at community and professional meetings, conferences, and conventions.
  • Participates in seminars, research, and in-service training programs.
 
Position Requirements

PA LSW and 2 years experience providing clinical social work services to children. School-based/behavioral health experience highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with students that have moderate to severe social and emotional difficulties. Experience with case management, including building and bridging relationships with mental health and child welfare and educational representatives. Working knowledge of special education IEP process. Skills in play therapy and/or trauma-based counseling. Good working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
