Description

The purpose of the Industrial Engineer is to maximize the utilization of machinery, technology, and human resources in the Company. The primary goal of their role is to increase productivity, efficiency, and value while meeting all customer, safety, and profitability requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be the expert in designing the workflow, layout, equipment, and people needed to most effectively produce the desired quality and quantity of output
  • Develop methods of monitoring the real-time performance of these processes and resources, and make corrections and adjustments as needed
  • Relentlessly pursue continuous improvement, champion lean manufacturing, and eradicate waste
  • In addition to selecting equipment, they ensure it is appropriately maintained, updated, and replaced as needed
  • Partner with the functional manager to design roles, workstations, and processes, and ensure the work is performed safely and to the maximum productivity
  • Support the sales process by assisting in the quoting and realization of profitable assembly and value-add services

Accountabilities

First Month:

  • Obtain solid working knowledge of the assembly and kitting operations
  • Build good working relationships with key members of the engineering, production, and warehouse departments
  • Complete a ‘line walk’ in all Iowa locations

First Quarter:

  • Prepare a detailed analysis and improvement recommendation for at least two core assembly or kitting processes or workstations
  • Become the champion of the 2 Second Lean program for all locations
 
Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of experience and education. At least two years of relevant work experience strongly preferred. Lean certification preferred but not required.
