Share Email Opening Title Public Works Crewleader  Location City of Griffin   Description   Provides on-site supervision of a work crew and participates in the work of the crew engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of city streets. Supervises the activities of crew personnel engaged in street maintenance operations. Supervises and instructs employees on work methods, procedures, and standards related to their assignments; enforces safety guidelines. Operates a variety of equipment in the performance of street maintenance duties, including backhoe, dump truck, street sweeper, bush hog, and jackhammer. Pours concrete; forms and grades sidewalks. Repairs street cuts and potholes. Repairs damaged lawns and landscaping; plants grass. Flags traffic at work sites. Supervises and participates in the maintenance of tools and equipment. Attends meetings; attends training classes and seminars. Completes and maintains all required reports, including incident and accident reports. Assists in set-up and clean-up of special events. Installs holiday decorations. Supervises and participates in the maintenance of city rights-of-way. Performs related duties.   Position Requirements Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance principles. Knowledge of relevant laws, department and safety guidelines, and city policies and procedures. Skill in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the work of personnel. Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
