SUMMARY:

Under basic supervision, assists with preparing vaccination cards and trays. Monitors patients in observation rooms for signs of distress and notifies appropriate personnel if needed.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Fills trays with vaccine syringes; applies lot identification labels to vaccination cards and verifies cards are stamped with appropriate information.
  • Delivers trays to vaccination stations; collects, cleans, and refills used trays.
  • Monitors patients after vaccination to ensure no life threating reactions are occurring; notifies appropriate medical personnel of any signs of adverse reactions or distress.
  • Collects time stamped cards from patients cleared to leave the observation area after vaccination.
  • Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND some previous experience in a medical environment is preferred OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required.

 

Required Knowledge of:

  • Operation of clinical medical equipment.
  • Familiarity with tools, technology, and systems typically found within most health care environments (i.e. patient records systems, HIPPA compliant practices, personal computers, etc.)
  • Safe syringe handling and disposal practices.

 

Required Skills in:

  • Following established protocols and procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment and storage areas.
  • Maintaining composure in stressful situations.

 

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a clinical setting and requires exposure to potentially contagious illnesses and diseases, and accidental needle sticks. Strict adherence to health and safety measures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment is required.
