Medical Records Specialist - Bi-Lingual

Wyandot BHN is seeking a dedicated bi-lingual Medical Records Specialist that will be responsible for gathering, processing, and maintaining client records according to policy and HIPAA standards. They ensure client records are maintained in a manner compliant with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements of the mental healthcare system.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for data entry into the electronic health record.
  • Scans and files medical records, correspondence and other documentation in clinical charts and the electronic health record.
  • Assists clients with requests for medical records and maintaining accurate clinical record information.
  • Abstracts and processes medical releases of information, subpoenas & audits that pertain to the HIPAA Privacy Laws for information from clients' medical records for release to appropriate facility, agency, attorney, Insurance Company, physician, etc.
  • Retrieves clinical charts as requested for staff &/or Medicaid audits within 24-hours of request. Prepares & sends charts for closure in off-site storage facility.
  • Maintains opened and closed file areas in an orderly and accurate manner
  • Verifies and updates client’s demographic information to include name changes, address, and phone number.
  • Ability to handle high volume of phone calls on multi-line phone system.
  • Provides other supportive services to staff
 
Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One + year experience using a CRM or Medical Records database.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Proficient working with MS Office programs; Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Exhibits the ability to work independently and to exercise independent judgement.
 
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Hours Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
