Description

The Lead Clinician serves at the Evidence Based Practice Champion and primary clinical leader on an interdisciplinary team, focused on providing time-limited, evidence-based practices in an outpatient clinic that serves individual adults, couples, families and children. The Lead Clinician will provide evidence-based treatment to veterans, particularly those who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and their families. In addition to direct clinical care, the Lead Clinician is responsible for supporting the Clinic Director through the provision of supervision, case consultation, and mentoring in CBT and other time-limited, manualized interventions. The Lead Clinician will be a full-time employee of the clinic and reports directly to the Clinic Director.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct service treatment for Veterans and their families.
  • Provide direct supervision for Clinicians including the following: monthly one-on-one supervision sessions for each Clinician to ensure quality control of clinical work, manage time and attendance, manage training requirements, and perform quality assurance checks of clinical documentation for compliance with established program standards.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with other members of the clinic leadership team including Clinic Director, Staff Manager, Outreach Director, Data Manager, and Medical Director to provide on-going program evaluation and recommendations for continuous growth and quality. Prepare and submit monthly program reports. Produce ad hoc reports as requested by Clinic Director.
  • Complete required clinical documentation, attend weekly meetings, engage in training and professional growth activities.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service, in everything you do, by placing the child, family, Veteran or client first to support our mission to “Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities.” Perform other duties as required.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited psychology program and shall have completed an APA accredited internship/residency in professional psychology; or a Master’s degree in social work and licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); or a Master’s degree in counseling and licensed to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC); or a Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and licensed to practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of active experience as a fully licensed clinician. Experience working with adults, children, couples, and families is required; Knowledge in DSM-V diagnoses is required; Experience in PTSD diagnosis and treatment is required; Certification or documented proficiency in one or more of the following EBP’s: PE, CBT and CPT is required. Experience working with military populations and/or Veterans is strongly preferred; Experience providing direct supervision; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Must be highly organized and detail oriented.

LICENSES: Licensed Psychologist, LCSW, LPC, or LMFT required. Either currently possesses a Supervisory credential or is eligible to obtain a Supervisory credential required.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice and possess a valid driver’s license.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Employee should expect to work at least one evening a week and some weekend days during the month to accommodate the schedules of the clients being served in addition to regularly scheduled hours.

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to veterans, their families, staff, clinic support personnel, funders, and the general public. Ability to make oral presentations.

COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.

COMPUTER: Working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel; PowerPoint and Access a plus.

DECISION MAKING: Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of case management recommendations. Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems.

FINANCIAL: Strong math skills.

NEGOTIATION: Ability to negotiate veterans or their family members down from stressful situations, potential threatening behaviors. Ability to persuade clients to make appropriate life decisions.

TECHNICAL: Knowledge of clinical services and community resources.
