U.S. News Healthcare:

Approximately 10 million people come to each month, most of them are seeking our guidance on choosing the right healthcare provider for themselves or their loved ones. This can be a complicated and stressful process, and we aim to make it easier. We first launched our flagship Best Hospitals rankings 30 years ago and have since expanded our digital franchise to help people find the right doctor, dentist or nursing home, as well as other types of healthcare providers.  The Senior Product Manager role is intended to encompass Hospital Products - the Health Data Insights (HDI), Best Hospitals and Hospital Dashboard properties.

Goals for the role:

The Product Manager will manage an existing portfolio of products, oversee annual rankings launches, and execute and influence the product roadmap by developing new products and features in the Healthcare Providers suite of products. This person will work closely with the Product Director and SEO Analyst and executives to define product strategy, monitor competitive sites and identify and optimize revenue opportunities while personally overseeing the implementation with the development team.

Position Requirements

Primary responsibilities:

Product Planning and Management

  • Manage large scale, time sensitive projects within a cross-functional team including tech, design, QA, PR, editorial and SEO.
  • Continuous focus on iterative product enhancement
  • Oversee existing products and define new features based upon user feedback
  • Prioritize, manage and test features

Research and Analysis

  • Analyze data and build business models that support informed business decisions
  • Continuously track and report product performance from financial to audience engagement
  • Research and understand healthcare user intent and behavior at a deep level
  • Identify opportunities for product innovation and enhancements.

Product Marketing

  • Work with PR, social media and editorial teams to establish launch plans focused on driving traffic and enhancing our brand within the Healthcare space.
  • Look for ways to enhance user engagement across the healthcare products.

The ideal candidate:

A successful candidate will have strong experience in managing successful projects and digital products.  We are eager to build a strong performer so we are open to someone looking to learn and grow in a supportive environment.  The team is based in Washington, DC.  While it is preferable to have a candidate that is local, we are currently working remotely and will consider candidates residing elsewhere.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Prefer at least 5 years of professional work experience in Product Management
  • Healthcare-related experience is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to multitask and work on deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Experience with full product development lifecycle from concept to launch
  • Familiarity with the Agile scrum workflow and the Product Owner role
  • Deep passion for understanding and improving products and user experiences
  • Strong communication skills and collaboration skills
