Production Assistant - 3rd Shift (B)

Description

Assists the shift supervisor with production work flow activities to achieve efficient and smooth production operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Compiles and maintains records such as container/storage labeling, inventory transactions, in process production reports and status and location of materials.
2. Examines materials and packaging being handled and verifies labeling and packaging for accuracy and checks for discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked materials and product.
3. Completes weighing, counting, inventory reporting, packaging, and storage of finished product.
4. Restocks material, boxes, and other supplies for people working in production.
5. Identifies type and quantity of materials required and availability for production by reviewing production schedules, work orders and inventory reports while also communicating with supervisor.
6. Accurately computes amount of material required to complete job orders.
7. Timely locates and distributes materials to specified production areas to avoid any production interuption.
8. Safely operates the forklift to various work and storage areas in the delivery and storage of materials, packaging, and finished goods.
9. Cleans and maintains work area and equipment used (such as hoppers and dryers) and assists in maintaining organization throughout the production areas.
10. Assists with relieving machine operators for breaks.
11. Assists with the communication and monitoring of part quality specifications.
12. Participates in the training and development of machine operators.
13. Actively assists in maintaining production goals and ISO expectations.
14. Assists with the set up and cleaning of grinders, dryers, loaders, and additive feeders.
15. Assits with dismantling set up and puts equipment and toold in their proper storage area.
16. Occasionally opens containers/ barrels/gaylords and accurately mixes additives with the raw materials in blender or tumbler according to specifications.
17. Offers suggestions for productivity improvement and work flow processes.

Education and/or Experience :
High School diploma or GED preferred; and 3-6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills :
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Software Knowledge: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Internet software; IQMS Inventory software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to rist of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; (oils, anti-freeze, etc.) and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A successfull completion and valid license is required for the following: Forklift Driver Certification
Other Skills and Abilities: Must be self motivated and possess the ability to make decisions. Must be able to professionally handle stressful situations and demonstrate teamwork.
