POSITION SUMMARY:

Contribute to the profitable development and marketing of Master Fluid’s metalworking fluid line of products by providing application expertise and other technical support to sales, technical services, and Research & Development (R&D). The focus is on fluid management technology and up/down stream compatibility to meet total customer requirements.

Perform routine and special chemical and biological laboratory testing for R&D projects, and customers’ chemical, oil, and water samples. Perform special testing on samples as directed by a Lab Director or Chemist. Provide written reports based on the findings of testing performed.

Assume responsibility for conducting research, developing new products, improving existing products, and conducting field evaluations on new products. Recommend new raw materials, equipment, and manufacturing procedures. Provide technical and supervisory support within the laboratory and other MFS departments as required. Help coordinate research and development activities with marketing, manufacturing, laboratory, and health and safety departments.

Guide QC and production in dealing with unusual problems related to nonconforming production batches and borderline incoming raw materials. Provide technical assistance in the day-to-day production problems in utilizing and/or disposing of old stock of raw materials and finished goods.

Finally, general laboratory and non-laboratory related duties within the spirit of the role of Laboratory Technician may also be required.

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field and three to five years of related experience within the industry or MFS laboratory. Must have a basic knowledge of chemistry, microbiology, and standard routine analysis procedures, tests, and methods. Experience and knowledge sufficient to be regarded as a resource to the corporation in a particular field or product line. Capable of understanding metalworking fluid products and their end use. Knowledge of cleaners is desirable. Must be capable of understanding metal cleaning products and their end use. Works with considerable independence. Must be able to perform standard procedures independently, interpret, and report results. Has demonstrated competence to research new applications of products or to develop new and improved production methods. Seeks solutions to complex problems. Has exhibited creativity and ingenuity. This position requires travel, up to 25% of the time.
