Description

Position summary: Oversees all operations for Ohio Pack with primary responsibilities for manufacturing plant operations including developing & modifying all manufacturing processes

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Oversee the purchase, installation, and start-up of manufacturing equipment
  • Set up and manage a quality control department
  • Management of raw materials and finished goods warehouse
  • Monitor production capacities to meet growth and customer demands
  • Manage Engineering and Maintenance staff
  • Develop and monitor production process to insure availability of adequate resources
  • Participate with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives
  • Manage the manufacturing expense budget
  • Create the standard for plant organization, cleanliness, and quality
  • Establish the plant KPI s and develops a plan with the team of how to get there
  • Develop operational procedures to ensure that data within ERP system is accurate
  • Oversee and create development plans for each manager, supervisor and leads
  • Responsible for continuous improvement projects and costs saving programs
  • Develops capable processes and leads investigation when processes fail
  • Develop and implement maintenance and preventative maintenance programs
  • Report any potential food safety, legality, quality, or food defense concerns to the Vice President or Director of Quality
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Maximizes process control tools
  • Oversees building modifications and general maintenance
  • Other duties as required
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures
  • All other duties as required

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection. Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.

Performance standards:

  • 30,60,90-day Assessment
  • Annual performance appraisal

Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

• B.S. engineering degree, in Mechanical, Packaging or Plastics Engineering

• CAD skills

• 10 to 15 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role preferably in the food industry

• 10+ years in a hands-on business management leadership role

• A proven history of teambuilding and employee development

• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems

• Knowledge of printing and laminations operations a plus

• Knowledge of Film extrusion and or Blown film operations a plus

• Knowledge of Plating or cylinder manufacturing a plus

• Self-motivated, proven problem solver, team player with excellent communication skills

• Experience with flexible packaging, flexible laminates, and filling equipment a plus

• Proficient in excel, word and power point
