Position Summary:

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper provides overall leadership, guidance, and direction to the Housekeeping and EVS team members as it strives to provide the highest quality in standards and services. This position will offer strategic leadership expertise that ensures the effective and efficient operation the department.

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper ensures that the quality and cleanliness of every room is met or exceeded prior to a hotel guest entering a room. Supervises all Housekeeping & EVS employees, has the authority to hire or discharge, oversees work assignments, oversees training for newly recruited employees, audits and inspects Housekeeping/EVS work assignment & room cleanliness. Takes weekly inventory of supplies and places necessary requisition for supplies. Keeps Housekeeping & EVS department budgets in line when processing operating expenses. Develops weekly Housekeeping & EVS staffing schedules based on work demands.

Essential Functions:

  • Understands and executes the guest experience model: guest expectations, service and engagement
    standards, training and guest experience
  • Address any service and engagement gaps through coaching and counselling.
  • Showing Initiative, Problem Solving, Staff Training, Team Leading.
  • Follow up on guest complaints and share guest compliments with staff members.
  • Verify all Housekeeping/EVS department assignments, offer suggested changes if necessary.
  • Co-conduct engaging daily Pre-Shift Meetings with Housekeeping & EVS Teams.
  • Oversees the daily Housekeeping & EVS operation, ensures that Swing Housekeeping & EVS are set up for success prior to end of shift.
  • Helps plan special duties for Housekeeping/EVS staff (Projects: Deep Cleaning, High Dusting, Window Washing, Balcony Cleaning, Carpet Shampoo, etc.)
  • Ensure all Out of Order room inventory has been properly scheduled in Hotel Lodging System based on daily communication with Engineering for maintenance and repairs timelines.
  • Daily inspection of assigned Public Areas
  • Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of guest rooms, tower corridor/lobby/stairwell and perimeter grounds/Bistro patio/pool/beach
  • Ensure that rooms are made as per company standard via daily room inspections.
  • Ensures guest rooms are properly secured and that proper key control procedures are utilized by the Housekeeping & EVS Staff.
  • Review outside laundry facility servicing to ensure quality, undamaged linens and consistent delivery.
  • Input Purchase Orders to maintain par stock of guest supplies, cleaning/operating supplies and linen.
  • Review “Time Off” requests and approve/deny based on Operational needs.
  • Daily update of numbers for Labor Forecasting in Housekeeping.
  • Develop weekly schedules for Housekeeping and EVS every Friday.
  • Post weekly property events schedule for EVS.
  • Ensure that Daily Housekeeping Productivity is met (Day & Swing Shift), maximizing labor efficiencies.
  • Assist in preparing monthly recognition for Top Scoring Housekeeping & EVS staff based on HotSOS Inspections.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge.

  • Hire and maintain staff as outlined in our staffing compendium.
  • Conduct performance reviews as outlined in the company policies directed by HR.
  • Ensure all EVS & Housekeeping team members are fully trained and competent to fulfill the duties assigned.
  • Organize on-the job training and evaluate its effectiveness.
  • Recommend recruitment of new personnel.
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, or hygiene standards.
  • Ensure risk assessments and procedures are written for all areas, along with associated safe operating procedures.
  • Ensure all staff are trained and receive regular updates on all risk assessments and safe operating procedures such as slip & fall, hazard communications, MSDS controls, and bed bug assessment training.
  • Observe and execute environmentally friendly practices.

Position Requirements

Qualifications / Special Skills:

  • The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly effective Housekeeping/EVS professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience in Housekeeping/EVS operations.
  • Minimum of 1 year with proven leadership experience in Housekeeping/EVS is required.
  • Exceptional communications skills and commitment to providing excellent service to guests.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
