Position Goat Project Coordinator  
Description

The Goat Project Coordinator is responsible for all operational and programming aspects of the 1,000 Islands Goat Project from approximately May 31st through July 2nd. The position is TEMPORARY and begins with planning for the arrival of the goats, continues through the two-week period the goats are browsing at 1,000 Islands and concludes with a summary of the browsing period.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Evaluate and manage site vegetation before and after browsing.
  • Manage all volunteers connected with the goats, including the Goat Watchers.
  • Serve as the public relations contact promoting the project with TV, radio and newspapers.
  • Brainstorm fundraising ideas to help keep the project going in the future.
  • Arrange for goat movement.
    • Make housing decisions with regard to weather.
    • Troubleshoot goat movement.
  • Be readily available on site for the majority of the times goats are out.
  • Conduct any educational classes or activities.
  • Clean and maintain goat areas.
  • Summarize the browsing effort at the end of a two-week browsing session.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to work with all ages of humans and to work with goats..
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Creative thinking for educational opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Effective communications skills in working with people of all ages.
  • High level of self-motivation and enthusiasm.
  • Be a Team Player.

Position would run from approximately May 31st through July 2nd, 2021.  Hours are flexible and the schedule can be set between 7:00am - 6:30pm.  The coordinator will work approximately 15 hours per week.
