Are you curious to know what happens behind the scenes of the U.S. News Education Ranking? Are you a student interested in learning more about data and statistical survey data collection? Are you excited to work on projects used by consumers worldwide to make their educational decisions? If so, you may be a great fit for an internship with the U.S. News Education Rankings data team. Our data team intern will assist in data collection and analysis through a unique learning opportunity.

 
Position Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in data collection, entry level data analysis, and learning to use software such as Excel and SQL to analyze data resulting in the annual U.S. News Education Rankings
  • Degrees in the fields of social sciences, economics, business, computer science and related fields.
  • Experience working with data in any capacity, working proficiency of Excel (Excel certification preferred), and working in a team setting

Job Responsibilities:

  • The data team intern will gain training and experience in electronic survey data collection (LimeSurvey)
  • The data team intern will learn how to use both JIRA and Confluence to document, request, and troubleshoot data collection and analysis items related to the U.S. News Education Rankings
  • The data team intern will have the opportunity to join weekly meetings with the entire U.S. News Educational Rankings technical team and receive a behind the scenes look into how the rankings are produced

Minimum Requirements:

  • Eligible candidates must be one of the following:

    • Part-time or full-time students who have completed 24+ credit hours (rising sophomores/juniors/seniors) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university

    • Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university

    • May 2021 graduate (Summer Interns Only)

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace

  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs

  • 3.0 GPA or above preferred

 

Summer Intern Program Description:

  • 10 weeks; ideally, starting on Tuesday, June 1 through Friday, August 6

  • We expect interns to work 37.5 hours/week, Monday- Friday

  • All interns are paid $15/hour

  • Internships will likely work remote
