Research Associate

Sciton, Inc. is seeking a research associate who will work closely with world-class scientist and company co-founder Dr. Jim Hobart, creating mathematical models of laser treatments of the skin, including light scattering and absorption, heat dissipation, and necrosis.

The research associate will use computer modeling to evaluate new treatment concepts, developing these into working prototypes for clinical testing. We strongly prefer candidates with well-demonstrated ability to turn concepts into functional products or research publications.

In this role, you will:

  • Evaluate research concepts for development into functional prototypes.
  • Become knowledgeable about Sciton products, the aesthetic industry, and technical subjects as required.
  • Help assure Sciton’s success by assisting with other projects, as necessary. 
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

The appointment will begin on a one-year basis, with the ability to work remotely. Renewal will be subject to performance evaluation. Please include a list of publications that best showcases your work.

Position Requirements


Essential Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in computational physics, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related is strongly preferred, although we will make exemptions for applicants with outstanding history of effective research and product development with demonstrable outcomes.
  • Programming experience, preferably with Wolfram Mathematica.
  • Experience with opto-mechanical assemblies for imaging devices.
  • The ability to work independently and in close collaboration with scientists, engineers, and technicians.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication ability.
