These three words guide everything we do.  We currently have an immediate Full-Time opportunity for a Training Coordinator to join our team in Ahoskie.  (Schedule varies: Monday - Friday and requires some weekends, eves & early mornings)

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

SensABLE Snacks provides adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities positive volunteer and work experience through supported, hands-on work in the operation of a snack-focused food truck and virtual snack-o-gram program. The Training Coordinator is responsible for training, supporting, evaluating, and serving as the lead contact for communication with supported individuals/employees. The position supervises program volunteers and program participants who move into employment status within the program.

Individual/Family Related Duties:

  • Serves as the primary contact between individuals/families and work.
  • Processes referrals, intakes, and onboarding of new individuals.
  • Maintains a professional work-training environment and participates daily in the direct services of the food truck staff/trainees.
  • Maintains confidential records on all individuals and families, which include individual goal planning, progress toward goals, medical information, and assessments of employee's performance.
  • Encourage & motivate individuals with preparation for shift service or their tasks as it relates to the food truck including assessment and adaptation of protocols for individualized learning.
  • Drives the truck/van to sites and supports the interns and employees on shift.
  • Explains and trains other staff members about individualized learning challenges and strategies to maintain consistency on shift and in overall support of the food truck interns and staff.
  • Alert team members of new diagnostic, health, and behavior changes, in compliance with HIPAA guidelines, that may affect the performance of staff members or overall level of service for sensABLE snacks.
  • Encourages food truck staff to work independently, make their own decisions, interact with others, and participate in community activities.
  • Encourages appropriate family involvement.
  • Maintains awareness of successes, problems, and general attitudes of the individuals, their employers, and the community.
  • Assists with the dispensation of medication, as needed.
  • Ensures adequate staff coverage and that staff are confident.
  • Shares patience and knowledge related to working with intellectual/developmental disability population.
  • Ensures all trainings are provided and coordinates training opportunities.
  • Advises team on an individual’s needs, determines independence level on food truck tasks, and readiness for potential placement or experiences beyond this project.
  • Attend benefits counseling and understand scheduling with limited availability

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintains accurate records, notes, and evaluations on each staff member.
  • Resolves scheduling problems.
  • Works closely with and communicates daily with Program Manager and Vend Coordinator.
  • Works closely with other service lines and providers to discuss schedules, evaluations, strengths and needs.
  • Completes staff evaluations.
  • Operates program within the approved budget
  • Participates in budget development for cost centers.
  • Assists in maintaining the calendar for vending, helps apply and pay for permits, and determines potential sites.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality, manages use of PTO time, and follows all policies and procedures regarding time off.
  • Follows all ESUCP Policies and Procedures.
  • Must demonstrate Easterseals valued behaviors of accountability, commitment, and caring as appropriate to the position.
  • Performs related duties as requested by the Program Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • In conjunction with the Vend Coordinator and Program Manager, the Training Coordinator will be responsible for communicating any weather-related changes to the schedule with all appropriate parties.
  • Recruits and hires full and part-time food truck volunteers and employees in collaboration with, Food Truck Manager and when necessary, input from the Program Director.
  • Trains, supervises, and evaluates volunteers and staff.
  • Assigns shift duties to all employees in conjunction with the Vend Coordinator.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and ensures the overall safety of all employees.
  • Establishes rapport and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and community partners.
  • Instructs employees on the use of service delivery on-shift and food truck equipment handling in coordination with Vend Coordinator and the Food Truck Manager.
 
Position Requirements

YOU’RE A GREAT MATCH FOR OUR TEAM IF YOU HAVE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university requires. Education and Health/Human related services degrees preferred.
  • Two years of experience providing supports and services to individuals with developmental disabilities is required.
  • Job coaching support experience highly preferred.
  • One year of administrative/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage diverse duties and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with families, community agencies, and volunteers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must have a valid state-appropriate driver’s license.
  • MUST BE willing to work weekends, early mornings, and evenings based on scheduled vending events.

Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer and Microsoft Office products, copier, calculator, fax, printers.
  • Point of Sales system
  • GPS, security devices, and entertainment systems (lights, music, speakers)
  • Commissary kitchen equipment such as freezer, fridge, pantry, washer/dryer, and generator power system, coffee maker, blender, microwave.
  • Food Truck mechanical and technical equipment.
  • FIFO inventory system
  • Personal vehicle, food truck, and large passenger van used for travel.

Essential physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to bend, kneel, twist, reach high spaces, and climb ladders.
  • Must possess the visual acuity to develop written correspondence and determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of talking, hearing, sitting for long periods of time, and performing repetitive motions, such as using a computer.
  • Must be able to speak audibly, write legibly and perform repetitive motions such as typing.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to work weekends, early mornings, and evenings as needed
  • Ability climb up and down steps, stand and work for long periods in the confined space of a food truck, and bend, stretch/reach, etc
  • Ability to handle and store cleaning and sanitizing solutions, chemicals, and products

Environment:

  • sensABLE snacks home base facility may share space with the other programs and thus require flexibility, deference, and patience to the supported individuals and staff operating there.
  • The vending sites will require travel and serve in public areas open to the elements, customer disruption, traffic, event circumstances. There may be less access to restrooms and other comforts of a typical office setting including above-average noise levels.
  • Some duties will take place in the community, which may include exposure to weather elements during travel and while working.
  • Presence at business and community events could involve exposure to large crowds and noise.
  • The service schedule will align with market demands and can cover shifts beyond the typical days/hours of a regular office job.
  • SensABLE snacks operates in the public purview and is subject to video/audiotaping for internal security protection measures as well as marketing strategies that include filming, photography, and social media. Staff is exposed to situations where the public may not ask for permission to photograph, videotape, and upload content to social media.
