Position Network Engineer - Contingent Upon Task Order Award  
Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for networking architecture and design. Configures various network devices and services. Troubleshoots the network issues within established guidelines. May assist network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Integrating cybersecurity into systems security engineering, program protection, anti-tamper, and design processes.
  • Implementing the Government-developed Cybersecurity Plan for the system, its subsystems, components, and support systems/equipment IAW DoDI 8510.01.
  • Troubleshooting/maintaining servers/clients, switches, IP copper and fiber networks, and display equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and maintain RF, microwave, multiplexers/de-multiplexers, and IP based transmissions.
  • Providing engineering support for technical refresh or upgrade to applicable hardware or software.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and currently possess active Secret clearance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field with 10 years’ experience in installation and maintenance of network communications. Must have technical knowledge of DoD cybersecurity standards and base line configurations. Five additional years’ experience may be substituted for bachelor’s degree.

CERTIFICATIONS: IT-II and IAT Level I Certification

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Analytical thinking.
  • Problem solving skills for complex technological systems.
  • Excellent team attitude.
  • Must be self-directed and have the ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Knowledge of Internet, routers, switches, firewall, computer hardware and software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach. Able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Typical office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
