The Position:

Family Service Agency's Traineeship positions are responsible for managing a clinical caseload and contributing to the overall functioning of the clinic. Working with those impacted by trauma can be fulfilling and meaningful, yet simultaneously exhausting and heart-rending. FSA strives to be a trauma-informed and resilience-oriented organization, actively identifying and employing methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care for others and themselves. We are looking to fill positions in Carpinteria, Santa Barbara, Lompoc, and Santa Maria. Clinical supervision is provided.

Sample of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing counseling to individuals, children, families, seniors, couples and/or groups as assigned, under the supervision of a licensed therapist in FSA offices and/or in client homes.
  • Formulate psychosocial diagnoses, develop clinical goals and treatment plans, perform clinically appropriate advocacy activities, and initiate clinically-indicated interventions.
  • Assist in information gathering, assessment of needs, and resource referral regarding services for clients and their families and develop case plans and provide follow-up and ongoing case management as needed.
  • Maintain records according to agency policies, including but not limited to completing progress notes within 48 business hours, administrative paperwork, and other related clinical documentation duties in a timely manner
  • Provide statistical information as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with the agency (including, but not limited to: weekly clinical supervision, daily checking of agency email and responding as needed, and as-needed individual supervision meetings).
  • Participate in outreach opportunities.
 
Position Requirements

Employment Standards:

  • Bachelor degree required.
  • Current enrollment in master’s or doctoral-level clinical program at an accredited university. Experience in counseling children and families preferred.
  • Must posses valid CA Driver License and auto insurance.
  • Excellent analytical, computer, written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional attitude, teamwork, and ability to maintain confidentiality a must.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

  • This position is approximately ten (10) hours per week. Hourly rate/stipend available, depending on circumstances.
