Description

The Controller is responsible for using analytical abilities and GAAP practices to research, extract and summarize financial data. This position responsible for monthly and fiscal reporting, accounting analysis and balance sheet reconciliation.

The Controller is expected to make recommendations to Management for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This position must meet tight deadlines and multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and management of the yearend audit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage all accounting operations included billing, A/R, A/P, GL, inventory, revenue recognition, etc.
  2. Manage monthly, quarterly and year end close to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  3. Monitor daily workflows of the Accounting team to ensure service levels and deliverables are being met.
  4. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  5. Monitor and analyze teams’ work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  6. Interface with other departments to verify support data and issues.
  7. Guide Accounting team regarding handling of non-routine transactions.
  8. Ensure monthly reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  9. Manage tax filings, census reports and other governmental reporting requests.
  10. Manage annual financial audit with external auditors.
  11. Ensure proper internal controls structure.
  12. Supervise, coach, train, and provide leadership and guidance to the Accounting team; assign performance goals; write and deliver performance appraisals and feedback.
  13. Additional tasks as requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The accounting team will report to the Controller. This position manages all accounting processes will serve at main contact for audits.

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate and timely information.
  • PC proficient including advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, supervisory and customer service skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, (CPA preferred), or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of related accounting experience dealing with recording financial transactions, reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting financial data.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with large ERP system(s).
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
