Position Summary:

As a Pastry Cook at Edgewood Tahoe, your primary responsibility is to prepare, bake and decorate various types of pastries, breads and cakes. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. Essential Functions:

  • Maintain and strictly abide by sanitation/health regulations and property requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with management and co-workers with regards to the operations of the kitchen.
  • Ensure all orders/requisitions are processed properly and placed in designated area.
  • Maintain solid knowledge of all food products.
  • Identify and safely use all kitchen equipment.
  • Regularly run for food and restock all kitchen supplies and food items required for service.
  • Properly label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation.
  • Apply basic knife skills required for preparation.
  • Read, measure and execute recipes precisely, including conversion capabilities.
  • Assist in decorating of cakes and pastries.
  • Maintain a solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation.
  • Assist helpers and Chefs as needed in execution of production.
  • Regularly runs for food and restocks all kitchen supplies and food items required for service.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
Position Requirements

Qualifications / Special Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of baking experience, in a professional setting.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Bilingual abilities preferred.
  • Certification in a pastry arts program a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a similar hotel, resort, or restaurant setting.
  • Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
