Tuknik Government Services (TGS) currently has an opening for a Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer  to support our government client in Fort Collins, CO. Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer is an integral component of a team supporting a Federal client’s organizational and digital transformation within an enterprise infrastructure and integrated with an expansion into business intelligence best practices and reporting.

The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial and progressive thought leader, with proven experience supporting, implementing, and architecting strategic business intelligence (BI) capabilities within a enterprise environment. He/she is proficient in the design, development, delivery, documentation, and creation of an enterprise architecture BI solutions for complex problems in complex environments.  The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer will:

  • Assist the team and our clients in developing and implementing enterprise wide BI and reporting solution based on business strategies and data needs.
  • Design effective business and operating models, ITIL capabilities, and enterprise architecture best practices
  • Research and identify new technologies to enable or grow business capabilities
  • Be comfortable interacting with senior management, which involves influencing on significant matters along with a consistent team-focused message on direction
  • Possess the ability to drive and lead conversations regarding overall objectives with both current and future goals and technologies
  • Be a true thought leader willing to both learn, implement, and educate clients on technology design and changes and can streamline discussions and thoughts into clear goals, objectives, actionable items and outcomes
  • Be a forward-thinking individual that has a balance of practical hands-on technical experience but is also capable of accurately and convincingly communicate the value of enterprise architecture across the organization


  • Assist with identifying, building, and executing strategic and tactical capabilities focused on running technology as a business model circled around planning, development, capability design, continuous improvements, communication plans, governance structures and investment prioritization for a large enterprise operation
  • Must be able to work across multiple operational and technical disciplines enabling organizational growth, innovation, and effectiveness
  • Assist with defining and creating future visions and identified areas of opportunity, thus delivering value across people, processes, technology and information
  • Evaluate results and present findings in a logical and easy-to-understand format
  • Assist with and/or drive key client deliverables, while ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope
  • Seek innovative and creative solutions to complex technical/business problems within a logical, rigorous, and analytical framework
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions by asking the right questions and digging for the answers
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations and work products/prototypes
  • Identify where improvements and pain-points lie and develop a strategy focused on inserting the correct and maintainable technologies
  • Manage technical projects through the Agile, iterative process
  • Scan internal and external environments to identify areas of opportunity development through analysis and inquisitive conversations with subject matter experts
  • Able to articulate with a business case/business model the benefits of change and investment required vs. expected return
  • Create a portfolio of high-value opportunities with strategic imperatives, including consensus building through alignment of vision, mission, goals and objectives
  • Plan and maintain technical infrastructure for enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence reporting platform
  • Consult with government users and gather requirements for data visualization and reporting needs
  • Analyze customer’s business needs and help customer translate into technical requirements
  • Analyze and translate requirements into technical and functional specifications
  • Design, develop and test technical deliverables based on specifications
  • Utilize advanced BI functionality to meet customer requirements
  • Analyze data and develop data profiling, aimed at identifying potential data issues and educating client on data contents
  • Perform Data Quality checks
  • Prepare data for ingestion into development/test repository and data lake environment
  • Generate Reports and Dashboards


Position Requirements

Required Knowledge, Education, Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in a Business Intelligence Analyst/Developer or related role
  • 3-5 years hands on experience in Business Intelligence (BI) tools, preferably Tableau and Alteryx
  • Skilled in developing dashboard visualizations with Tableau or similar tool (e.g. QlikView)
  • 5+ years experience developing and querying relational databases
  • Proficiency and experience in SQL, and ETL process
  • 5+ years hands on experience in application/software development or equivalent
  • Proficiency in an Object-Oriented Programming language, preferably Python, R
  • Experience working in an Agile development team
  • Experience developing in and/or supporting cloud-based data environments
  • Excellent consulting/relationship management skills; ability to mitigate/mediate complex and/or politically charged issues
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; able to communicate effectively with a diverse audience
  • Able to analyze complex issues and distill concepts to clients
  • Comfortable acting as a liaison between business and technical teams in order to drive solutions
  • Able to comprehend new concepts, ask pertinent questions, execute and document ideas and concepts with minimal day-to-day direction
  • Able to stay on task and on schedule while adhering to non-flexible deadlines
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to convey technology and business value propositions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and lead small engagements if necessary
  • Experience performing data quality checks on large and complex data sets.


  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related

Required Qualifications:

  • Tableau Development Experience, certifications preferred
  • Alteryx Development Experience, certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in both structured and unstructured data collection, data governance and analysis

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
