Assistant Service Manager 

Description

PURPOSE

To assist the Service Manager in the day to day operations of the facility and/ or workspace. To manage the assigned terminal for the purpose of controlling costs, improving efficiency, and maintaining compliance within the workplace.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Improve vehicle uptime through efficient repair practices and equipment audits
  • Achieve 95% PM currency or better on tractor services
  • Achieve 92% PM currency or better on trailer services
  • Conduct frequent shop audits, inspecting safety, cleanliness, and ensure work flow remains steady
  • Effectively manage assigned shop operation in accordance with financial goals
  • Develop shift leaders and service clerks technical skills of maintenance personnel
  • Promote safe work environment and repair practices in assigned shop location
  • Reduce workforce turnover by improving employee relations
  • Review/close work orders to audit for correct data entry
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results.
  • Able to promote a culture of trust and safety.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability for occasional travel
  • Must be able to perform daily tasks in extremely hot and cold environments

 

Preferred Skills

  • Effective team building abilities
  • Knowledge of DOT standards of repairs and maintenance
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding terminal facility
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

 

SUPERVISES OTHERS

  • This position supervise others and responsible for being results oriented, collaborative, delegate effectively and strive for harmony, ensuring team effectiveness.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required:

  • to sit, stand, stoop, kneel and occasionally move up to 20 pounds,
  • manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis,
  • stamina to sit for extended periods of time, lift or carry printed materials, and
  • possess vision sufficient to read a monitor, printed text and hand written documents,
  • be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
