About the Organization Today Kaukauna is home to 15,858 people with its own full-time Police, Fire and Rescue services and a municipally owned electric and water utility. Kaukauna is well-maintained with regular garbage collection, street cleaning, well-lit and well-paved streets and other services vital to keeping our community safe and attractive. Position Naturalist Intern  
Description

1,000 Islands Environmental Center is seeking an Intern for the 2021 summer season!  This Naturalist Internship will provide assistance to the Naturalist in conducting educational programs a nd other activities for both students and other visitors.  They will coordinate and lead students and special groups.  This position will work Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and lead 1000 Islands Environmental Center’s educational programs for school and special groups.
  • Leads interpretive hikes and field trips.
  • Assists in curriculum and program development for people of all ages.
  • Assists with animal care and wildlife management programs.
  • Learns skills to assist in other areas as needed with the operations of 1000 Islands.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate with staff and general public.
  • Ability to assist in coordinating and directing various activities of 1000 Islands.
  • Ability to understand and work with the activities and existing resources 1000 Islands.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College student or recent graduate in environmental education or related field of science.
  • Effective communications skills in working with people of all ages.
  • High level of self-motivation and enthusiasm.
  • Be a Team Player.
