The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures advances the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

The Senior Coordinator will be a key member of the Academy Museum's Curatorial, Education, Programming and Publications department. You will provide administrative support to the Chief Artistic and Programming Officer. Primary responsibilities include managing phones, extensive scheduling, document processing, editing, and creation as needed.

 

You Will:

  • Support the Chief Artistic and Programming Officer with scheduling, managing department phones and general email, and other administrative duties to ensure and maintain efficiency of department files, organization, and processes.
  • Manage all office functions, including greeting guests, reception support, replying to requests (phone, mail, and email), processing invoices and expense reimbursements, and maintaining organized financial records.
  • Prepare and edit documents for accuracy, proper formatting, and grammar to ensure excellent output.
  • Assist with department mailings, events, filing, drafting correspondence, and working with other assistants and coordinators to provide administrative and organizational support to the overall department.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in an administrative role supporting one or more department heads.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple, often time-sensitive, projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of film history preferred.
  • Commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with PCs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Availability to work some nights and weekends.
