Job Title: Video Production Specialist

Reports to: Marketing & Media Manager

Summary: This position serves as the primary videographer for the Desert Museum, by developing and producing promotional and educational videos related to the mission and activities of the Desert Museum to engage and inform various audiences. Will work closely with the Marketing and Education teams to develop ideas for videos that position the Desert Museum as the leader of Sonoran Desert expertise. This position will also manage a digital asset system and the Museum's YouTube channel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Partner with various departments, mainly Education and Marketing, to plan and produce impactful videos.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews with staff and external spokespeople for inclusion in videos.
  • Perform post-production responsibilities including editing footage and inserting graphics and effects, prior to delivering the final product.
  • Produce b-roll for television and other media use.
  • Stay current on, and adhere to, video best practice and the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility recommendations.
  • Manage the Desert Museum's YouTube channel.
  • Perform routine video equipment maintenance.
  • Manage marketing content in a digital asset management system available to all departments.

Position Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, media production, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum two years of related experience creating video content for a range of uses required, including websites, social media, or commercial.
  • Proven ability to engage an audience through visual storytelling.
  • Demonstrated experience of video editing programs and photography editing software including Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro required. Please include links to videos or an online portfolio.
  • Thorough understanding and ability to use basic video equipment.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly organized self-starter who can manage a large volume of media requests and work collaboratively to meet project deadlines and provide quality products in a timely manner.
  • Understanding of digital media best practices and delivery formats and sizes.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proactively with various departments and balance of a multitude of projects.
  • Understanding of the Desert Museum’s style and tone of voice.
  • Willingness and ability to accept and incorporate feedback.
  • Flexible work style adapting to changing demands and priorities.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Understanding/familiarity with non-profit, visitor-based organization.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must have a satisfactory driving record and valid Arizona Drivers License.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have solid working knowledge with Adobe Creative Suite Video Editing software, Photoshop, YouTube, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
