Senior Director of RSI and Crisis Services

Wyandot BHN is seeking a Senior Director of RSI and Crisis Services to direct crisis stabilization services (sobering, crisis observation, and crisis stabilization unit) and crisis services (walk-in and mobile crisis response); ensures efficient and appropriate delivery of resources and services; serves as a member of the Wyandot Center/RSI Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the decision making processes; directs and leads management personnel and staff, optimizing performance; represents the agency in a variety of venues, promoting mental health and/or serving as a subject matter expert; and ensures compliance with standards, protocols, and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Directs the operations of RSI/Wyandot Continuum of Crisis Services.
    • Oversees service units and programs including planning, program development, and day-to-day operations.
    • Manages the planning and coordination of activities.
    •  
    • Proactively enhances and improves efficiencies (assessing performance, evaluating/needs/services, providing educational enrichment opportunities, ensuring optimal utilization and efficient use of facilities and resources, maintaining confidentiality, etc.).
    • Creates and produces new programs in response to consumer needs (monitoring activities and outcomes, identifying opportunities and overseeing the development and implementation of program initiatives).
  • Directs, develops, and coordinates crisis stabilization services for RSI and the Crisis Clinic as part of Wyandot Center’s continuum of crisis services.
    • Works in conjunction with and receives directives from select entities (Executive Director, regulatory agencies, legislation, etc.).
    • Collaborates with internal and external partners (Heartland RADAC, and Johnson County Mental Health Center, law enforcement agencies, EMS from Wyandotte and Johnson county, local hospitals, Osawatomie State Hospital, etc.) to optimize client care.
    • Assures access for consumers in need of crisis stabilization services, and maximizes delivery of services for adults through collaborative and coordinated efforts across organizations.
    • Apprises the Executive Director of emerging problems and trends affecting crisis services and develops recommendations and plans for action.
    • Ensures optimal delivery of the highest quality of clinical services and programs by implementing, updating, and/or enhancing protocols and clinical services.
  • Serves as a key player for internal/and external functions to further promote and/or execute RSI’s and Crisis programs for the good of the organization.
    • Serves as an active member of Wyandot Center’s Senior Leadership team and management team (actively engaged in discussions and decisions, upholding interactions and decisions to the highest standards, and modeling behaviors that exemplify the mission, vision and values).
    • Represents RSI and Wyandot Center at the local or state level as needed or requested by the Executive Director and/or CEO.
    • Participates and works collaboratively on other committees, panels, and community groups, as needed.
    • Participates as part of CIT councils, as appropriate.
    • Promotes RSI and Wyandot Center through public presentations, sharing written resources, and developing key relationships with partnering entities.
    • Advances the organization by producing and/or providing oversight in the development, submission, and administration of grant funding.
  • Directs and leads personnel (guiding Managers and/or unit leaders toward optimal performance, participating/overseeing managerial processes [interviewing, selection, staff development and/or performance, discipline actions, reviewing performance evaluations, etc.], conducting team meetings, preparing/conducting performance evaluations, ensuring adherence to policies, practices, and protocols [organization and/or regulatory compliance], assisting with problems [personnel issues, conflict resolution, crisis management, etc.], etc.).
  • Establishes job functions and performance criteria for adult clinical staff to ensure highest quality of consumer treatment and efficient use of resources.
    • Ensures optimal performance through training and coaching on work assignments (serving as a role model, providing guidance, offering constructive feedback, answering questions, motivating managers to maximize performance, etc.)
  • Oversees the maintenance of personnel recordkeeping [vacation, holiday, sick time, etc.] monitoring activities, recording absences, directing the updating of files, etc.
  • Participates in establishing policies and procedures in response to regulatory and/or system changes (identifying unique requirements, assessing and determining impact on services, collaborating with the ED and clinical leadership, developing action plans, and producing and disseminating information.)
  • Develops and facilitates presentations in response to training needs, serving as a speaker in internal/external arenas, and/or promoting a new concept or program.
  • Ensures RSI and Crisis Services are in full compliance (scrutinizing applicable policies, local, state, and federal laws and their requirements [legal, professional], making sure staff meet agency, state, and licensing training requirements, monitoring and confirming that State and Medicaid standards are met, and assuring adherence by staff through positive and professional communications, training, and coaching).
 
Position Requirements
  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or other mental health related field, or be a Registered Nurse.
  • Must be licensed as a qualified mental health professional in the state of Kansas. Preference will be given to candidates who have or are seeking advanced clinical licensure.
  • Five years of management experience in a mental health environment.
  • Must have at least three years of experience with direct service as a clinician, case manager, or other mental health professional, preferably in the crisis field.
  • Exceptional communication (oral, written, & presentation) skills, including the ability to write and speak concisely, succinctly, and accurately in a style appropriate to the audience.
  • Excellent relationship building skills to effectively cultivate relationships and partnerships throughout the organization and with community leaders.
  • Willingness to embrace, lead, and bring about change throughout the organization and programs to attain strategic initiatives and propel the programs forward, while meeting constituent needs and expectations.
  • Outstanding clinical acumen to include excellent clinical judgment, familiarity with treatment technologies, protocols, community-based strategies, and principles of outcome based service delivery systems, knowledge and familiarity with managed care technologies, and the ability to embrace and promote trauma informed care principles and person center values.
  • Must have working knowledge of roles of various regulatory agencies affecting the functioning of a community based service organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the highest level of confidentiality and business ethics in relation to organization and consumer information and access.
  • Strong aptitude for business operations including the ability to analyze data, and recommend strategies that reflect an adherence to standards, outcomes, and efficiency to resource applications, and budgeting. Excellent organization skills and the ability to plan and execute complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment. Ability to work as a business partner with all departments/functions and use program and organization goals, philosophy, mission, vision and values as operating drivers in all recommendations and decisions.
  • Working knowledge of grant application and renewal processes.
  • Critical thinking and strong analytical skills essential.
 
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Hours Standard office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
