Position Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or minimum of 1 to 3 years of similar or job related experience in a Mortgage Lending position

REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • General knowledge of Windows and Word with good keyboarding skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to follow instructions

  • Excellent telephone manners and techniques

  • Interpersonal skills to represent the financial institutions in a positive way

  • Ability to collect data with strong analytical skills

  • Ability to read legal documents and translate into appropriate operational policies and procedures

  • Ability to use on-line terminals, stand alone PC’s and other standard office equipment such as calculator, copy machine, fax machine, etc.

  • Ability to train employees

  • Knowledge of fundamental mortgage lending concepts and practices, also loan policies, procedures and secondary market loan policies and procedures

  • Knowledge of State and Federal laws governing all facets of real estate lending

  • Knowledge of credit union’s data processing system

  • Must be bondable

  • Must have NMLS Licensing

  • Must have valid Driver's License and/or the ability to travel to meet the job demands

 
Description

Ensures mortgage lending policies and procedures are followed effectively and serve the strategic goals of the credit union, while complying with all state and federal regulatory requirements and laws. Responsible for mortgage processing, underwriting, closing, post closing and servicing of all mortgage loans at the Credit Union, while providing leadership, coaching and training of all areas.

Responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance. Reviews and provides guidance to Underwriters, Processors, Closers, Post Closers and Mortgage Servicers with appropriate documentation to ensure compliance with business partners/investors and all state and federal regulations and laws.

Effectively Manage Pipeline. Ensure files move through the department (Processing, Underwriting, Closing, Post Closing and Servicing) in the most effective and efficient manner while providing "on time" delivery to members, investors, and business partners.

Provide leadership, expertise, guidance and support to the Mortgage Operations Team. Responsible for recruiting, training, mentoring, coaching and developing staff. Monitor and reinforce performance standards. Provide expertise, guidance and support to the Mortgage Operations Team on all levels. Communicate and reinforce the Credit Union vision, values and strategic department goals.

Owner of the Mortgage Loan Operation. Responsible for identifying and seeking out workflow and program efficiencies to enhance and streamline processes. Implement and manage necessary change to optimize and provide a delightful experience for members and employees that will drive sales and service.

Experience

Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.

 

Education

(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

 

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others to develop high performing teams is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a requirement.

 

Other Skills

Must be driven, organized dependable, detail-oriented, personable, and tactful. Must be technically savvy with the mathematical reasoning and the ability to read, interpret and explain legal documents. Must have the ability to prioritize key objectives and make critical decisions.
